Bio

Billie June Brand is a multi-media artist, writer, and educator in Minneapolis interested in learning, teaching, and making through experimentation. Originally from the Southwest, Billie works with found and accumulated materials to craft emergent assemblages with paper, clay, text, fibers, and oil paints. They believe that making is a means for archiving alternative pasts/presents/futures, and that a politically and emotionally potent otherwise can be realized through play, non-linear constructions, and the alliance of materials. They believe that material altering through craft is a methodology for practicing self-determination and autonomy with implications for our political and intimate worlds.
